Конверсия (conversion) – один из наиболее распространенных способов словообразования в английском языке. Конверсией называется образование новых слов от слов, принадлежащих к другой части речи, без добавления аффиксов (суффиксов и префиксов). При помощи конверсии главным образом образуются существительные от глаголов, глаголы от существительных и глаголы от прилагательных. to look (смотреть) - a look (взгляд) to sleep (спать) - sleep (сон) a hand (рука) - to hand (вручать)
